The races have been set for Mayor and Council elections, but a write-in could make things interesting

Candidate filing week is over, and the races have been set. Right now, Councilmember Steve Friedman is unopposed for Mayor. This could change if someone runs a write-in campaign, which has been done elsewhere with success. We’ll provide commentary on what this might look like soon. The mayoral race will go right to the November ballot.

Council Position 2 drew three candidates, which means it will appear on the August Primary ballot to narrow it down to two candidates for the November ballot. The three candidates are Councilmember Ashley Eckel, Spencer Hamlin, and Steve Sinwell.

Council Position 4 drew two candidates, which means this race will only appear on the November ballot. The candidates are Planning Commissioner Ryan Olson and Mark Kroese.

We will be writing more about these candidates and reaching out to them with questionnaires.

The ballots for the Primary Election will be mailed on July 14 and due on August 1. Ballots for the General Election will be mailed on October 20 and due on November 7.
