Mayor Klaas Exonerated from PDC Complaint Filed by Council Member Moore and Lisa Slivka of pro Committee Prop1

We learned Councilmember Scott Moore and Lisa Slivka filed a PDC complaint against Mayor Klaas. Lisa Slivka is on the for committee for Prop1 and started the petition to change the form of government.  The complaint alleges the Mayor used City resources to draft a projected cost document of the change of government.   The PDC’s final conclusion exonerated the Mayor and said she did her job with a statement of facts.  Were Scott Moore and Lisa Slivka trying to prevent the Mayor from producing a public document detailing the cost of changing the form of government for residents and taxpayers? Mayor’s cost estimates can be found here: Link to Mayor Memos detailing costs to change of government.

Here are excerpts from the PDC complaint exonerating the Mayor:

“The Councilmembers (Hachamovitch and Friedman) said they objected to the public posting…” (of projected costs to change form of government).

“It appears Mayor Klaas acted in good faith to come to an agreement on projected costs for changing the form of government and that in doing so she was essentially working to prepare a statement of facts on behalf of the city.   It also appears Mayor Klaas responded appropriately when challenged on the accuracy of the information she was trying to provide.”

“Based on this information, the PDC finds that no further action is warranted and has dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).”
